What we cook

We call it Coastal Country. The Southern home cooking from our downtown Panama City kitchen, with Gulf seafood added because we are at the beach now. Fried chicken, country fried steak, chicken fried chicken, pork chops. Catfish and shrimp po'boys, a grouper BLT, shrimp and grits, redfish.

Sides are $4 and people argue about which is best. Mac and cheese, mock shoe, collards, black eyed peas, fried okra, cheese grits, dumplings. Cornbread is $2 and one reviewer called it the best they have had in a restaurant.

Desserts are made in-house. Peach cobbler, bread pudding, pecan pie, strawberry shortcake, all $8.

Where we are

10071 Hutchison Blvd is the old Applebee's building on Hutchison Blvd in Panama City Beach, a few minutes' drive from Pier Park. The room is light and clean now, and people who remember the old place say so. There is a big free lot out front.

Lunch, dinner, brunch and a bar

We open at 11 every day and serve straight through to 9. Daily lunch specials run as a meat-and-two. Tuesday is beef tips over rice. Chicken and dumplings shows up often. Saturday and Sunday we open at 9 for brunch.

The bar is full. Cold draft beer, wine, cocktails and margaritas. Hours are posted but still being confirmed, so call first if you are driving far.

Families and big tables

Kids plates are $10. Tenders, fish, a smash burger or shrimp. There are plenty of big tables for a family or a crew, and parking is never a problem. Order ahead on Toast if you want to take it back to the condo.
